Newspaper Passing

Newspaper Passing

These pictures were of the newspaper crew passing out their work and yes these photos are pretty old. The yearbook needed some pictures of them passing out newspapers for a spread. I don't believe the actual spread made it but none the less it was still shot. It was an okay assignment and it wasn't hard to shoot.

 f/3.5, 1/80, Iso 800
I like this picture because it shows some them actually working and talking to the teacher. I don't like it because of the computer kind of being the spot that catches your eye and its an okay photo.
f/3.5, 1/40, Iso 800
I like this picture because it is shot correctly. I don't like it because it is a very bland and boring picture. Its not good at all.

Old Photos

Old christmas (Its been a while.)

These photos are extremely old and they were obviously taken last year. Im using these pictures because I need something to talk about at least. Hah. This was for a photo assignment about christmas overspending and consumerism. It was a very american thing to right about and it was a fairly good article so that was chill. In all honesty these all look like stock photos from commons but hey who is complaining.

f/ 4.5, 1/100, Iso 800
I like this photo because of the depth of field and how the displays are set up. I don't like this picture because its a very mediocre picture with absolutely no thought put into it.
f/4.5, 1/125, Iso 800
I like this photo for the same reasons up above and the christmas tree adds a nice color to it. I don't like it because it is a very simple picture.

Top Architecture

Top Architecture Photos

These photos were taken for the top photography in the thematic category. All of the architecture photos that I took were shot after school with some of the other photographers. Needless to say that there photos were ten times better than mine but ill be darned if I didn't try hah. In all honesty I did get some really good photos out of that which I'm extremely grateful for and one did get used in the actual portfolio. Here are some of the photos that were taken by me.
 f/ 3.5, 1/160, Iso 100
I like this photo because it an interesting shot of a building and shows a little bit of history. I don't like it because it is a rather bland photo with a weird composition.
f/3.5, 1/20, Iso 100
I really like this photo because it has an interesting composition in the photo and has a cool effect with the two windows.
I don't like it though because the corner on top is blown out and that really it.

Newspaper Assignments

Newspaper Assignments
I was assigned to take some pictures of certain people for the stories that were going in the newspaper. The central theme that is in these stories that these people are going to college on a scholarship and they have shown academic excellence. I congratulate them fully because these individuals deserve what they worked so hard for and what they dreamed about since the beginning of their high school career.
 f/2.8, 1/250, Iso 1000
I like this picture a lot because it is shot properly, it is well lit for being inside the gym and its a good shot. I don't like it because its a very simple picture and not interesting.
f/4.0, 1/100, Iso 400
I like this picture because it is a standard shot of two people and it shows where they are going on their shirts. I don't like it because it is blown out in the corner and it is decent overall.

Basketball Again...Senior Night

Basketball Senior Night
It was the basketball teams last game and we ended up wining by landslide. Whats more is that kinda sucked but besides that it was a rather enjoyable experience that was fun to shoot.
 f/4.0, 1/250, Iso 1600
This happened after they had passed to someone who was in the back and the player went up for a dunk and this is pre-dunk. It was rather exciting and funny. I like this picture a lot because it is a good action shot and it was taken correctly.
f/4.0, 1/250, Iso 1600
I like this picture because it is an action shot and it is shot well. I don't like it because it is lit weird and the guy in the back looks like he is touching the dudes butt.

T-Bots Check Recieving

T-bots
About a week back the robotics team at our school, respectively called the t bots, received a check from their sponsor AEP SWEPCO. They gained about 6,000 dollars for the robotics program which is quite an accomplishment.
f/6.3,  1/250, Iso 800
I like this picture because it is a simple picture and to the point. I don't like it because of how basic it is.
 Iso 800, f/2.8, 1/60 sec
I like this picture because it has the focus on the kid but also keeps the adult in semi focus. I don't like this picture because it is also basic

Childhood Fear

Childhood Fear
These photos are based around the central theme of childhood fear. Mine was the fear of being alone or lost so I had to come up with ideas. These photos are not edited yet nor are they processed. They are kinda rough but still good. My only problem is how can I capture the emotion fear.
 1/2000, Iso 400, f/2.8
I like this photo a lot because the background and then balloon's contrast with his shirt. I also like how his hand is over his eye to make it look deep. I don't like it because i don't know if it shows fear at all really.
1/800, Iso 100, f/4.0
I like this a lot because the shadows and how it has a good contrast. I don't like it because I still don't know if it shows fear.

Softball

Varsity Softball
I was able to shoot some of our softball games for the first time. I have never shot baseball let alone softball so doing this for the first time was kinda cool but also hard. It helped me learn what to do at a  baseball game though so cool
 1/2000, Iso 100, f/2.8
I like this photo because the people in the back are in focus plus the ball. What i don't like is the position of the runner in the picture and the umpire in the back is kinda just walloring.
1/500, Iso 400, f/2.8
I like this photo because of how its focused on the girl and the the other one. I don't like how you cant see the other girls head is cut off. Also you can't see her full face. Its a good picture overall but not amazing.

Addiction to those darn video games

Video games are life
The other day I was assigned to shoot someone playing video games and it was to show certain addictions of people. The spread it is going on is to show what people do when they become obsessed   with certain things like netflix or video games for example. It was actually rather fun to shoot because  I got to experiment with it for the photo and it came out rather well. I was pretty happy with the results since they came out so well. What I had to was adjust the light with a flash because, no offense, the lights in his house sucked and I had to bump the Iso up a little. Whats more is that if I left the Iso down a little more they wouldn't have come out so grainy but there not extremely grainy so its fine.
 f/2.8, 1/60, Iso 1600
I like this photo a lot because it shows him playing the game but not only that it has the actual screen in the mirror and it shows what he is doing which is really cool. So it is extremely cool and it fit the criteria they needed so it all worked out so woo. The only thing I don't like about is his legs are a little cutoff but other than that.
f/2.8, 1/60, Iso 1600
I like this photo because he is very engrossed in his game. The only problem is that you can't really see what he is doing and it isn't great.

Powerlifting

Powerlifting
The other day I went to shoot practice for the variety boys team. It was rather entertaining to watch because some of them couldn't handle the weight so they had to have help and made some rather entertaining faces. Otherwise it was rather boring but there was good action shots so it was pretty good all throughout.
f/3.2, 1/125, Iso 1250
I like this picture because it is concentrated on the guy lifting the weights and is fairly good. Whats more is that is properly exposed etc. What I don't like about it is that the weights are cutoff and so is the guy behind him a little yet it is not a bad photo.
f/3.2, 1/100, Iso 1250
I really like this photo because his dreads are in action and they flip back all majestic like. Its rather funny and they show him lifting heavy weights. I don't have any qualms with the picture other than the lights and it is a little cut off but those don't really take away from the picture

THS Band

Band People
I had to shoot the different type of bands that are at Texas High practicing. The following pictures are the symphonic band practicing in the band hall. It wasn't necessarily hard but it was more like I didn't think ahead and forgot to bring a flash which would have greatly helped these pictures but I digress.

 f/3.5, Iso 1600, 1/100
I like this picture because Mr. Lawson is teaching the band and he is focused in frame. I don't like it because it good be framed better and its a little blurry.
f/4.5, Iso 1600, 1/40
I like this photo mainly because of the focus point and it is well framed. I don't like it because of cut off of the instrument.

Basketball. Lets Go!!!

Boys Basketball
It fun to shoot this because of the fact that i got some really good dominant photos. I would like to shoot another one and I'm going to later on so that would be cool.

 f/4.5, Iso 1200,  1/200 sec
This probably my favorite photo out of all of them. I have not processed it yet but I think its really funny since he is 5'1 and he is jumping the set up was great. I like it because it has a central point of focus which is him. I don't like it due to the dude behind him being cut off.
f/ 4.0, Iso 1600, 1/200 sec
I like this photo because he gives a good expression and face value. I don't like it because people are cut off.
